Stuart McCulloch, Market Head of The Fry Group Middle East, featured in The National’s podcast series earlier this week to discuss the current COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it has had on markets and investors.

In the podcast, Stuart highlighted the key considerations for investors during this period of market volatility, especially given the contradiction between the recent rally in global markets and the longer-term predictions for the world economy. Stuart’s key messages included taking care to make sensible, informed decisions, keeping a calm head during market volatility and seeking advice from a qualified financial planner’.

He also discussed the importance of understanding your appetite for risk as well as your capacity for loss as an investor. He noted that being aware that investing is about time in the market, not timing the market, which makes the biggest difference over the long term.

So how should you position your portfolio in the light of the pandemic? What opportunities should you consider? How much risk should you take?
